Nathan Ablett hoping brother Gary follows him to Gold Coast

Nathan Ablett has signed with Gold Coast and said he would love to be reunited with his brother, Gary, at the new club when it enters the AFL in 2011.

Cashed-up Gold Coast has made no secret of the fact that signing Gary Ablett for its 2011 AFL debut is the club's recruiting priority.

And it's believed the Brownlow medallist could earn $1.4 million a season if he decided to leave Geelong.

With Nathan declaring he wants to play AFL with the fledgling team, it gives two-time premiership player Gary further reason to consider a move north.

Gary Ablett is out of contract at the end of 2010, but Geelong chief executive Brian Cook said he was extremely confident of securing the star beyond that.

This could prove to be a good move by the Gold Coast club. Nathan Ablett is a fringe player at best IMO, nothing special. But he'll have less pressure on him in Queensland. He could turn out to be a pretty handy signing. Also now what are the chances of Gary Ablett signing with the new club?

Very good signing. He is more than a fringe player
He would get a regular game in pretty much any forward line in the country

Once Nathan remembers that it takes a lot of hard work and commitment to be an AFL player he will quit again.

Very overrated, but is more than a fringe player, has the potential to be a very good signing.

Yeh Nathan could be a gun if he committed enough, its in his blood.

alsoo, by 2011 Geelongs prem window will be over. Ablett could double his contract $ and get another chance at premiership glory with his bro?

Honestly, I think the only reason Gold Coast went after Nathan was to then try and lure Gary. And I do think Gary's a good chance of going to GC. They can offer him $1.2-1.5M plus the captaincy and whatever else really. He's already won it all at Geelong, could even win another Premiership in 2010 and really, I don't think anyone would criticize him if he couldn't turn down the money that GC will throw his way.

I don't know about. GC would be offering two to three times what he's earning at Geelong. Considering how much he's done for them, I think he'd definitely consider it.

He would definitely consider it. No doubt about it, he has to. I think in the end though he will stay and I think GC know that.. Gold Coast are definitely throwing their money around though

Not a major signing ... due to the fact that he lives on the GC anyways ...

I would suggest that Gary wont be coming upto the GC as he values his reputation and wants to be known as a One Club Player

Nathan Ablett could turn out to be a very good pick up, he has some experience already, especially big game experience and has proven he can be very handy up forward (he was better then Longernan and Hawkins). But its just a matter of him having the work ethic to reach that potential.

I remember hearing that when Nathan was going to get drafted. Doesn't really mean much anymore as Ablett Jnr showed that he is the much harder worker out of the two.

And my coach thought I could tag a current AFL listed player in under 13s.

Junior footy doesnt count for very much as there are alot of late developers. And usually the big kids are more dominant in juniors
