PostSubject: Australia V Oman - AFC Asian Cup Qualifier - 15th November   Fri Nov 06, 2009 5:29 pm

In Muscat, 1.00 AM AEDT...

Don't underestimate the importance of this match! A win is pivital to whether we qualify or not and this is the last time where going to have our European start for these qualifiers. So with 2 more qualifiers left a win will almost guarantee a spot.

Socceroos Squad:

Player
Club, Country
A-International matches (goals)

Mark BRESCIANO
Tim CAHILL
David CARNEY
Scott CHIPPERFIELD
Jason CULINA
Bruce DJITE
Brett EMERTON
Adam FEDERICI
Brett HOLMAN
Mile JEDINAK
Brad JONES
Josh KENNEDY
Harry KEWELL
Patrick KISNORBO
Mark MILLIGAN
Craig MOORE
Lucas NEILL
Mark SCHWARZER
Mile STERJOVSKI
Carl VALERI
Dario VIDOSIC
Luke WILKSHIRE
Rhys WILLIAMS

Biggest surprise is no Scott McDonald...this could be a real blow for his confidence.

With this squad, we should be able to get the job done over there. Oman are very frustrating the way they play, always diving and the play is always stop start with them. But we should be able to pop up with a few goals, so I will say 2-0 to the Aussies with Kennedy and Bresciano scoring.

My starting XI would be:
-----------------Schwarzer--------------------
Emerton-------Neill-------Moore-----Chipperfield
--------------Culina---Jedinak-----------------
Bresciano-----------Cahill----------------Kewell
------------------Kennedy--------------------

Although I would prefer only one DM Pim has made it clear this is the preferred formation.

No Nicky Carle? he is what we're lacking, its a shame to see

Bruce Djite has got a recall, hopefully he sees some action

We SHOULD brush past Oman, but knowing us we'll probably scrape a 1-0 or something

You can get squad lists that dont take up so much space you know Laughing

I think we will win, we'll have our full team out...2-0 I reckon but you never really know with the Aussies Confused

Quote:
Sydney FC striker Alex Brosque has been called into the Socceroos squad
by coach Pim Verbeek for Saturday's Asian Cup qualifier with Oman in
Muscat.

Brosque has been in fine form in the A-League this season, and wins his
first international call-up in four seasons after striker Josh Kennedy
was forced to withdraw due a back injury.

The move is a further snub for Celtic striker Scott McDonald, whose two
goals at the weekend were not enough to earn him a recall, after he was
left out of Verbeek's original squad named last week.

Brosque won the last of his four caps in 2006.

2-0 or 3-0 win to aussie

Brosque has been a beast for Sydney this year.
his game against Phoenix was really good.

Surely they would have put McDonald back in before Brosque or Thompson

Also good to see Rhys Williams get in the squad again

I really doubt Australia will get a comfortable win. If the result a couple of weeks ago in Melbourne is anything to go by, this could be a bit of a struggle.

Yeah but we created more than enough chances and the game really should have been won in the first half. But i see where your coming from, Oman should not be underestimated
