| Is there not just a top overall player award or don't they announce those nominees? |

| I agree with every pick of yours hendo and theres no point having a player of the year because it would be richie mccaw or dan carter every year until they retire |

| NZRU Age Grade Player of the Year Aaron Cruden Richard Crawshaw Memorial Sevens Player of the Year Julian Savea (Wellington) Super 14 Player of the Year Malili (Mils) Muliaina (Chiefs) Tom French Memorial Maori Player of the Year I don't think any of them actually played for the NZ Maori last year...did they? Air New Zealand Cup Player of the Year Mike Delany (Bay of Plenty) Team of the Year New Zealand Under 20 New Zealand coach of the Year Dave Rennie (New Zealand Under 20)
My picks - can't pick the Maori player off hand, are they picked on their representation of actually being Maori (i.e. playing for NZ Maori side)? Cause I don't think any of those guys did. |

I know - hence saying "last year"
I think it's a joke to have a "Maori player of the year" when the Maori team wasn't used; it's just a gimmick in this circumstance since they just arbitrarily pick nominees with a smidgen of Maori blood and then compare them on the same scale as the other categories. They may as well have a category of top players with black hair or something. Unless there's a tangible competition or team for Maori players (i.e. NZ Maori) then the award category shouldn't be there. |

| Once again disagree on Richie. He had an average Super 14, an average test season and didn't get much time in the Air NZ Cup. _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/RocknrollHendo

| Well we all know Mils had a terrific Super 14, he also played very well in the end of year tour. Adam Thomson also had a great super 14, played very well in the Air NZ Cup games which he played in and also played well in his ABs matches. Zac Guildford, although he played average in Super 14, his u/20 WC performances (from what I've heard) were awesome, and he was one of the best in the Air NZ Cup. _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/RocknrollHendo

| Guildford was below his best at under 20s, was rubbish for first half of Air NZ cup, was lucky not to be dropped. Thompson struggled to hold his place in the starting team and Mils would have too had Jane not been great on the wing |

| Lucky not to be dropped? you kidding, if he spent half the Air NZ Cup playing crap then he wouldn't of made the All Blacks, he wouldn't get selected for 5 good games for the Magpies. Thomson was ripped off, he deserved to be starting in every test, was much better than Kaino. Mils would never have lost his FB spot, especially with how the Joe was performing. _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/RocknrollHendo

| Zac was rubbish for the first few games and then something just clicked about, maybe, 1/4 through the comp and he just went on from there.
TBH - as far as consistent performances go I reckon Conrad Smith was the best of the year. |
