PostSubject: SANFL-Mini draft   Fri Dec 18, 2009 5:37 pm

For those who are interested the SANFL Mini draft was held today. This mini draft is held to decide where the players both Port Adelaide and Adelaide recruited in trade week or in the AFL draft will play for in the SANFL when they are not selected for AFL duties

1: South Adelaide-Daniel Talia (Crows)
2: Port Magpies-Cameron Cloke (Power)
3: West Adelaide-Scott Harding (Power)
4: North Adelaide-Andrew Moore (Power)
5: Eagles-Luke Thompson (Crows)
6: Glenelg-Sam Shaw (Crows)
7: Sturt-Jasper McMillan-Pittard (Power)
8: Centrals-Jack Gunston (Crows)
9: South Adelaide-Daniel Bass (Power)
10: Port Magpies-John Butcher (Power)

Jay Schultz and Jay Nash, traded to Port Adelaide, will play for the Eagles and Centrals, if not required, as these are the two teams they were drafted from by Richmond and Essendon. Youngsters drafted from SA stay with their SANFL teams. The draft order runs from 9th to 1st. Norwood were not eligible this year due to salary cap a breech.

Yeah, so there is the SANFL Mini draft.

Any questions?

Magpies won that with ease, Butcher and Cloke, should help them.

You'd have said the Magpies won if they'd picked up Gill and JON

And besides, we all know the Centrals will win again in '10 Cool

Yeah I was surprised that Butcher was pick 10. Maybe the other SANFL clubs think he will play AFL next year and did not want to waste a pick or see him taking a few years to mature and went for a ready made player. Time will tell.

I remember when West Adelaide drafted Nick Stevens. Nick only played a handful of games for Westies before his debut for the Power. He was never seen back at Richmond Oval again.

One more thing with the draft. The SANFL clubs do not pay the wages of the players they draft. This is covered by the Power and the Crows.
