| Ricky Ponting, the Australian Cricket Captain. Easily my most hated sportsman. His arrogance and disrespect he shows towards his opposition is disgraceful. I for one would never want someone of his nature representing my country let a lone captaining it.
What are your thoughts on Ricky Ponting? Love him or hate him? _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/RocknrollHendo

| I like him and have pretty big respect for him. He's a competitive guy and always tries his hardest for Australia and, while it doesn't always seem like it, always tries to make the right decisions for Australia (usually they are correct, although of course not all are) and he has a huge knowledge of the game. However, I agree that he is very arrogant and he never admits it when he's wrong. For example, in his 2009 Captain's Diary, he refused to admit he was wrong when he bowled the part-timers against India and even yesterday he refused to admit he was wrong when he definitely should've bowled on a green-top pitch. Despite his arrogance I still love him, he's an awesome cricketer and a good captain |

| His competitive nature is often mistaken for arrogance. Yesterday he was one of the first players to rush over and shake the batsmen and umpires hands, even though he could of been forgiven for being caught up in the moment of another fantastic SCG win, like they were in the test against India 2 years ago. I for one think that the Australian cricket captain needs a bit of arrogance now and then, just to say to the visiting teams, "You can try and beat us on our own turf, but we sure as hell ain't gonna make it easy for ya" And even though his results with the bat this season don't show it, he is definitely one of the best batsman I've ever seen. I don't think anyone can hit those hook and pull shots as well as he does. Keep it up Ricky, Time to get those Ashes back!! |

You can't say he was wrong not to bowl first on that pitch, sure Australia got owned but it was a huuugeee mental advantage to have runs on the board when it came to the 4th innings yesturday- and lets not forget Australia won the test. Whos to say that if he did bowl first and Pakistan won, would you be saying he made an incorrect decision? |

Are you kidding me, did you even look at the pitch? 90% of captains would choose to bowl on that. I'm just pointing out I think he was wrong. Australia's ability to squeeze a win out of that game saved Ponting from a lot of critics rubbishing him. |

Sibs you didn't say you thought he was wrong, you said "yesterday he refused to admit he was wrong when he definitely should've bowled on a green-top pitch" - that implies then your opinion and sibs the pitch in the first innings wasn't that hard to bat on if you had the guts to stick it out. Hughes, Ponting, Clarke, Hussey, Haddin all played shit shots which lead to their wickets, if they had the abiltiy to bat more for time and not runs Australia would've gotten around 200-50 and not 130 Also sibs on c9 pre game every commentator said you had to bat first, i'm guessing their all wrong aswell |

| I cant stand ponting The man but I respect Ponting The Batsmen i also think he's a shit captain who's had a easy life. Like 30% Dislike 70% I must admit i have major issues with the way the Aussie cricketers carry on and have for a long time . I have my reasons mainly the fact that when i was Young we sucked and did it the hard way against some awesome opposition teams now they play on tarmacs with Super bats and padding every where against shithouse teams and they carry on like they've just won the america's cup for the first time. The Baggy Green is like an exclusive club superior to other Australians where as Other Aussie teams are representing Australians ....Kangaroos Socceroos Wallabies etc. Some shit like that there's just something i can't quite explain that pisses me off about the Australian Cricket players Attitude. |

| Sibs all of the commentators said it was the right decision, although the pitch was doing a bit, The Pakis bowled well and Aussies batted like shit and played some ridiculous shots, i trust Pontings and all the experts opinions over yours, as much as that may suprise you. I think Ponting made the right decision, and if you look at history the highest 4th innings run chase at the SCG is like 260, which im sure Ponting had in the back of his mind, and which also tells me that the SCG is a bat first pitch pretty much no matter what. |

| Ricky Ponting, one of the only players I actually do like in the Australia Cricket team.
In fact, here's a rundown of who I can't stand. Shane Watson, Simon Katich, Muchael Clarke, Brad fucking Haddin, Doug Bollinger, Nathan Hauritz and Marcus North.
Can't say I like Peter Siddle that much either, even though he's a Victorian. Michael Hussey is a genuinely good bloke, and Mitchell Johnson is pretty good as well. |
