Geelong premiership player Mathew Stokes has been questioned by police in relation to suspected drug offences.

The 25-year-old, a member of the Cats' 2007 premiership team but who missed a place in last year's flag-winning team, is expected to be charged.

The Geelong Advertiser newspaper reported that Stokes was expected to appear in the Geelong Magistrates' Court on Wednesday afternoon.

While the club is yet to officially make a statement on the issue, it is believed Stokes will be arrested by police as part of an ongoing drug investigation in the Geelong area.

It is being reported that Stokes will be charged by police in relation to amphetamines. The expected arrest of Stokes follows a series of recent drug raids in Geelong with police seizing more than $3000 in cash and about $50,000 worth of drugs from four properties last Friday.

Stokes has played 71 games and kicked 108 goals for the Cats since his AFL debut in 2006 with the reigning AFL premiers to begin their 2010 season on February 21 when they take on North Melbourne in the first round of the NAB Cup.

Well if he is found guilty he is a goner from the AFL forever. Hopefully he is innocent for the AFL's sake, Stokes sake, and everyone else.
