PostSubject: Sheffield Shield: Queensland vs South Australia   Tue Mar 02, 2010 8:16 pm

Queensland will have at least one debutant for their important Sheffield Shield match this week after the teenage batsman Chris Lynn was named for his maiden first-class game. Lynn, 19, was included in the 12-man squad at the expense of Nick Kruger, who has been dropped, for the game against South Australia starting in Brisbane on Wednesday.

The Bulls have also included the uncapped legspinner Cameron Boyce, although on the seam-friendly Gabba pitch he might be the man to miss out. The fast bowler Nathan Rimmington has returned to the squad to replace James Hopes, who has gone to New Zealand to be part of Australia's ODI outfit.

Queensland are second on the Sheffield Shield table after their stunning last-wicket win over Victoria last week and victory against the Redbacks would secure them a place in the final. South Australia need not only outright wins from their last two games but also other results to fall their way to have any chance of qualifying.

They have regained their captain Graham Manou, the allrounder Daniel Christian after his Twenty20 trip to New Zealand, and also the fast bowler Mark Cleary, who hasn't played a first-class game since October. Tim Ludeman, Kane Richardson and Cullen Bailey have been left out of the 12-man group.

Queensland squad Ryan Broad, Chris Lynn, Wade Townsend, Lee Carseldine, Craig Philipson, Chris Simpson (capt), Chris Hartley (wk), Ben Cutting, Chris Swan, Nathan Rimmington, Luke Feldman, Cameron Boyce.

South Australia squad Daniel Harris, James Smith, Michael Klinger, Cameron Borgas, Mark Cosgrove, Graham Manou (capt, wk), Daniel Christian, Aaron O'Brien, Mark Cleary, Jake Haberfield, Peter George, Gary Putland.

I'm going to tip South Australia to get up here. They have a lot of inform batsman and I reckon they can get the job done.

I really hope South Australia win for Victoria's sake as well. C'mon South Australia!

Well, that amazing win against the Vics would have given the Bulls plenty of confidence heading into this match. The ball should swing around quite a bit, so our pace attack will need to take full advantage of the conditions. Hopefully the lads can get the job done and secure us a spot in the Shield final.

XI I'm hoping to see...

1. Ryan Broad
2. Wade Townsend
3. Lee Carseldine
4. Craig Philipson
5. Chris Lynn
6. Chris Hartley
7. Chris Simpson (c)
8. Ben Cutting
9. Chris Swan
10. Luke Feldman
11. Nathan Rimmington

he from the Pine Rivers area is he?

it'll be awesome to see two Caboolture boys (Rimmo, Feldman) line-up in a first-class game next to each other

surprised Rimmo got the call up, i wonder what has happened to Scott Walter he was a gun in the making

bugger

play hasn't started yet and there's a bit of rain around the city at the moment so they'll probably lose the whole first session

Well I answered my own question with one click lol.

Queensland 20/2 after 8 overs. Townsend not out on 13 and Lynny yet to score. Rain delay atm lol

Queensland got all out for 160. 67-run last wicket partnership between Rimmington and Feldman. Rimmington can't bat for shit so i am surprised. Makes it a somewhat defendable total. The ball will be doing all sorts of things today that pitch is unlikely to see the sun the whole match but i reckon we'll get a full day's play in.

South Australia have lost the early wicket of James Smith??

South Australia 5/34 16 overs.

Stumps - Day 2

QLD 2/132

Lynn 4 (6)
Townsend 74 (97)

QLD lead by 220 runs

Amazing scenes today! South Australia were bowled out in 1 session!! They only managed to get 72 runs. Swan with 5/26 and Feldman 4/14 were the best with the ball.

QLD well on top here, 6 points almost assured here.
