Quote :
Muttiah Muralitharan, the leading wicket-taker in Tests and ODIs, will retire from Test cricket after the first Test against India in Galle, which begins on July 18. While he will not play the subsequent ODI tri-series and will pick and choose the ODIs, he will be available if the team needs him for the 2011 World Cup, which Sri Lanka is co-hosting.

Breaking news and surely one of the greatest players of the modern generation. I hope he gets the 8 wickets he needs to get to 800 wickets in his final test.

Congrats to him on an amazing career, but he's a chucker.

Certainly one of the most controversial figures in the history of the game because of his bowling action.

Well done to Murali. A superb career. He will go down as one of crickets all time greats infact many would cricket fans would probably have Murali in their all time XI.
With Murali gone now, test cricket only has 3 all time greats now in Tendulkar, Ponting and Kallis.

Well said, I've never been a big fan of him but he can bloody well spin the ball. Wonder what Darrel Hair would make of his career Laughing

Murali is a chucker. But under analysis lots of bowlers were chucking. Even glen mcgrath and brett lee, armbrose. Every bowler is´╗┐ a chucker. Even in soccer david beckham uses his hands to curl the ball.

Forget about Warne. Long live Murali. If they ever name a stadium after Shane Warne, call it the One Night Stand
