I've applied for a new job at a sports statistics company in Sydney and I've got a job briefing in 2 weeks. They've told me they were hiring casual stat workers for the upcoming A-league season. Basically I think the job involves recording stats from A-league games and coding data which are used by the media, etc. Whilst I love my sport and Football, my knowledge on the A-league is not as strong say as NRL, AFL, cricket or International football. Whilst I know some of the more well known players of the game, how can I improve my knowledge on the lesser known players of the A-league? Watching games from past couple of years? Learn players names/numbers/positions? Team formations? If you have any helpful hints it will really help me out because I really want this job and maybe they'll let me onto other sports I feel comfortable with.

By the way, if anyone is interested in this I think you can send out an e-mail as they're hiring casual stat workers for the A-league season.

Sounds boring haha, what do you have to do sit at home and watch the games or do you get to go to the games or what? There isn't really much you can do imo, it all comes with watching the games week in week out.

Nah I'm pretty sure they watch the games from their offices in the city.
