PAKISTAN captain Shahid Afridi dramatically resigned from Test cricket last night after Marcus North and Steve Smith became surprise spin twins at Lord's.

Afridi - just back from four years out of Test cricket - said next week's Test at Leeds would be his last after Pakistan plunged to a 150-run loss at Lord's.

He blamed a side injury and claimed he didn't have the temperament for Test cricket - after twice getting out to stupid shots at Lord's

Pakistan's next captain...?

In the post match coverage last night, Mark Waugh predicted this to happen haha. Salman Butt would be the most obvious choice IMO, Umar Gul or Danish Kaneria possibly? But seeing as it's Pakistan they will probably go with someone we didn't expect.

Good.

He was a joke of a captain, he couldn't lead from the front and really let the team down in both his innings. Blessing in disguise for Pakistan cricket.

I'd back Asif to be the next in line - but i'm not sure what his situation is.

What on earth was the point of his comeback? offers absolutely nothing in tests and now Pakistan have to go through the cycle of finding a new captain.

Salman Butt will surely get the captaincy.

It shouldn't matter what form of Cricket it is in and its cheating mate so I reckon it would affect the moral and bonding off the team.

What did Kamaran Akmal do that affects the moral and bonding of the side?

Dropped about 30 catches on purpose

^that... plus voice his opinion about being dropped + his brother faked an injury in protest and as a result creating a rift between coaches and the selectors

He didn't dropped 30 catches, bit over the top there. Why wouldn't you voice your opinion about being dropped that just means he wants to be in the side so badley.

Plus Umar Akmal faking an injury does not have much to do with Kamaran Akmal.

Mohammad Asif just seems like a captain to me. He 27 so he has experience under his belt, and plenty of years ahead of him.

First he insisted he would play, despite the PCB and Coach saying he wouldn't and issuing a media statement he isn't going to play, thus creating friction in the camp.

In regards to th Umar thing. If he is going to be captain he should of shown some leadership and tell his brother to grow up. As Umar (who is young) would've been more inclined to listen to his brothr then team managers.

He's just not a good leader
