I don't know where S06 got the idea Brighton was a top public school.

Haha BSC 90th in 2008 when I finished, 33rd or something the year after.

Yeah, we were a dumb group. Laughing

If there were academic results for years 7-10 we'd be right up there. VCE however this is not the school to attend I much admit

Shame no-one gives a shit about 7-10

And how can you possibly know that?

Not to mention the fact you have to question why you are so 'strong' from 7-10 then so weak from 11-12?

Years 7-11 don't matter though.

Because BSC only offer VCE subjects that have 15 or more people interested. If 14 want to do it, it doesn't go ahead. It's that simple. A combination of not enough teachers and not enough classrooms really. When you've got 1200 students though, that's probably why.

2008 Eltham College: 123rd. Because we had so many dumb faggots in our year level who just about threw away their education. One such prick got 19 for his ENTER.

My school did that too but we still do alright.

I've about some schools doing pretty dumb shit such as telling students to leave after year 10 because they don't want them to bring their averages down, im thankful i never went to one of those schools

that's no real excuse. Plenty of schools have 1200 or more students and all schools have budgetary limitations meaning they won't run classes unless they have a certain number of students enrolled.

If anything having a bigger student body helps because you can create economies of scale.

But the subjects we offer are already limited. And so when a student enrolls for next year expecting to get some subjects he desires but are called off due to the lack of interest, where does he/she go from there?

Also, I'm not sure if this was the same for Sparky, but I've got possibly the worst teachers that the school has to offer. It really does effect my learning when a teacher goes on a massive tangent and speaks about his motorbike for half the lesson.

I'm not saying it's a good situation, I'm saying it's one that almost every school faces.

I wanted to do International Politics in year 12, but there weren't the numbers. My school wasn't hard up, but they couldn't hire a teacher to meet the demand of a couple of students.

With a couple of exceptions, almost every school faces these real world concerns. Yours is no different and therefore the fact that the subjects offered are limited is no reason for poor performance.

Yeah, you can't use that as an excuse. I'd say every public school would face that problem.

Seriously, I did a 3 4 subject in 2008 and it wasn't offered in 09 - it happens.

If a student really wants to do a subject they can. Last year alot of people had to do subjects such as IT and specific languages online or at another school, while still attending Glenny. It can be done.

At the end of the day it comes down to the teachers and more importantly the students willingness to learn. If a student really wants to do well they'll find a way.

In Yr 12 I did English, General Maths, Media, PE and Accounting. Apart from Maths, I had great teahcers, especially in English and Accounting. But really, it's up to the student if their teacher is no good to study or get friends to help. Unfortunately for me, as I really didn't care enough about Yr 12, I really didn't both if I was behind, or didn't study for SACS. So while I think having a bad teacher or bad teachers is an excuse, it's a small one at that.

Not too much but not too little, the right amount mixed with a touch of socialising.

What enter do you want?

And what other subjects are you doing

if I can land

English - A
PE - A
Psych - A (got an A on midyear)
Further Maths - B
Bus Man - C+ (I gave up on it after the first Sac, which I did well on lol)

I'll be over the moon

Im looking for about a 70 for my Enter

English - C
PE - A+
Health - B+
Further Maths - B
Accounting - B (got the B on the mid year)

I'd be happy with those scores i guess, the course applied for only requires a 65 and I think that would do it with a bit extra
