Newcastle Jets have pulled off a major coup, luring football superstar David Beckham and Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy team to the Hunter for a one-off friendly in November.

The Jets will host the Galaxy, who also feature United States 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa hero Landon Donovan, at EnergyAustralia Stadium on November 27 from 7.30pm (EDT).

The match is expected to attract 23,000 fans and bring more than $1 million to the economy.

Looking forward to seeing Beckham and the Galaxy down under... should bring plenty of media attention, which can only be a positive for the sport in Oz. Thought they may have looked to move the game to a bigger stadium, though it's understandable they want to play at Energy Australia.

Becks is just entertainment value these days. He is going to be doing this stuff well into his 50s. Becks was a great player (still good too), but there have been many players better then him and i've always found all the attention he gets weird.
