PostSubject: PLEASE EXPLAIN MR RABBIT   Tue Nov 30, 2010 3:27 pm

I am laughing in my little Broncos boxer shorts, as the NRL and Ian Schubert have sent out an urgent please explain memo to South Sydney, regarding their third party player payments

FROM FOXSPORTS.COM.AU
Greg Inglis's desired $1.8 million move to South Sydney remains in jeopardy after the NRL issued a formal "please explain" memo to the Rabbitohs over the third-party deals underpinning their proposed deal.

The latest development leaves the Rabbitohs continuing to face the sobering reality their 2011 salary cap forecasts will be blown - despite club statements arguing they won't need to shed any players to keep their superstar recruit.

After receiving Souths' contract draft last Friday, NRL auditor Ian Schubert is already alarmed and has sought finer details on the elaborate external deals absent from Souths' initial short-form version tabled on November 15.

The NRL has asked to see additional paperwork to justify the series of deals Souths intend to use to prop up Inglis's base salary of only $190,000.

"We've asked for more information on the third-party deals," NRL boss David Gallop confirmed.

In another development, it is understood the Rabbitohs and Melbourne Storm have reached a tentative agreement on the residual amount of Inglis's disputed legal fees, totalling $113,000.

While Melbourne are still yet to release Inglis, the messy saga has now moved to NRL discretionary rulings on all portions of his deal with Souths.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.
End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.
All third-party deals secured on the exclusive proviso Inglis join Souths will be ordered under their 2011 salary cap.

The additional information ordered from the club will now prove pivotal to Inglis's fate.

Meanwhile, Gallop refused to be drawn on whether Inglis's camp was attempting to hold the game to ransom.

That follows a public warning by manager Allan Gainey that a failure by the NRL to rubber-stamp the deal could lead to Inglis walking away from the code.

Gainey claimed such a scenario would prove "the greatest disgrace ever", while also stating "the NRL will exercise their discretion reasonably . . . and in the best interests of the game".

But the NRL, left frustrated by Gainey's inability to bring a resolution to the saga in more than four months, has thrown the ball back into Souths' court with Monday's latest edict.

Schubert's final judgments on the salary cap distribution of Inglis's contract could yet unravel the Bunnies' current cap forecasts, demanding the exit of contracted players.

The botched handling of the legal matter has come at a considerable cost to the player, dragging the 2009 court hearing back into the public limelight.

There is speculation Gainey has lost guidance of his star client, after unsuccessfully attempting to persuade Inglis to honour his written agreement with the Broncos

Im not crying, I'm actually quite happy he didnt come to our club. He isnt worth getting rid of alot of the good young players we had, including, Sam Thaiday, who we have since re signed. In fact, the only one actually crying in this thread was you when you said "*sniff* just let him plaaaaay"

Tell me, since his contract is backended, which one of Souths players is goin to go next year ?? Or the year after that ?? You do know he is going to force someone out, and with Sandow, Sutton and Luke all off contract next year, it's probably one of them.

But, what am I talking about, the contract will never pass, and they wont have to get rid of anybody. So Smile !!!

I just dont like people saying, let the bloke play, or its the NRL's fault if he leaves. ITS NO ONE ELSES FAULT, IF THE CONTRACT DOESNT GO THROUGH, AND GREG LEAVES FOR UNION, BUT GREG INGLIS'. He had a perfectly viable contract, and walked out for more money. If that doesnt work out, he only has one person to blame- HIMSELF

he got offered more money to go elsewhere. i dont blame him one bit. let me ask you a question.. if the broncos offered you an absolute mint to go play for them would you take it? inglis got the same offer and i dont blame him one bit for taking it. at the end of the day you are being employed to do the same job week in week out, why not take the more money?

Im not blaming him for leaving, im blaming him if the Rabbits cant put up the dough and he leaves for union. It is his fault, and no one elses.

It would be like me saying I would sign for a company, then another company comes in and offers me more money, I accept, then that company going bankrupt, and me being unemployed, then trying to blame the previous company.

ITS INGLIS'FAULT IF HE GOES OVERSEAS BECAUSE THE SOUTHS CONTRACT GETS REJECTED

Because he left a reliable source of income, to join a club that few months ago, couldnt find the money to sign the three Burgess brothers. That either makes him take the blame, or he is just plain dumb.

Besides, if you have a job, chase the money, and it falls through, its no ones fault but your own

I'd love to see him play for whatever club, but I will not feel sorry for him one bit if he has to go overseas. Even his manager tried to tell him to sign with Broncos, as he didn't think Souths could afford him, and he still left. He is a big boy, and made this decision on his own, so he must accept the consequences

You do realize this is the same BS they have been rehashing over and over again for the last 2 weeks don't you? There is no new information in that story bar they are just seeking a bit more info on a couple 3rd party deals, which I'd think would be standard procedure... As for you claiming we don't have the money to pay him, it's BS.. Do you really think they'd be crazy enough to send off a contract they couldn't afford?? The only thing holding the deal back is getting the 3rd party agreements rubber stamped which will take time as they only completed those a couple days before the contract was sent.. As for the Burgess' bros, well we have just signed one of the twins for a year to play U20's

I just find it odd, when the manager, Shane Richardson and Anthony Mundine talk about the contract, they talk about discretion of Gallop, Schubert and the NRL. If everything is hunkey dorey, then why would the NRL need to use their discretion when looking over the contract. It either is legal or not. No "discretion" should need to come into it unless there are a few shady things in the contract. Want examples??

Gainey claimed such a scenario would prove "the greatest disgrace ever", while also stating "the NRL will exercise their discretion reasonably . . . and in the best interests of the game".

Anthony Mundine said if they lose him to Union, it would be a stupid move by the NRL. Why, if the contract is legit, would the NRL turn down his contract ??

It's at their discretion to approve the 3rd party deals. Example: When it first broke that we were going to sign Inglis we had a mining magnate offering up 100k for him to work with their indigenous charity but the NRL came out and said that it had to be included in the cap as it wasn't "gainful employment" so that deal fell through. So if the NRL decides that they aren't happy with 1 or more of the 3rd party agreements then Souths have to either find another to replace it or pull the deal. Sometimes the NRL just makes it to hard for clubs to hold onto star players. The good thing is it looks like Melbourne and Inglis have sorted out the 30k that was holding back the release..

Yea likewise.

My care factor for both Inglis and Souths is about NIL right now.

I couldnt care less if neither of them featured next year to be honest.
