Just like Gold Coast who were linked with about 30 different players.

NEW franchise Greater Western Sydney has sights on Collingwood premiership sensation Dale Thomas as a marquee signing in a bold bid to lure the games finest emerging young guns for their launch into the AFL.

PrevNextThe blond bombshell’s sensational teammate Scott Pendlebury, brilliant Melbourne midfielder Tom Scully, classy Brisbane on-baller Daniel Rich and budding Carlton superstar Marc Murphy are also believed to be on the Giants audacious hit-list.

Thomas, 23 and Pendlebury, just 22, are believed to be the premier signing targets for GWS as boom recruits with long term playing potential with the new club as well as massive marketing appeal for promotion with young fans in the multi-cultural western Sydney suburbs.

Superstar Collingwood play-maker Dane Swan, who is out of contract at the end of next season, has already been linked with a possible move to GWS but it is understood that young players with long commitment potential with the new club are a higher priority.

So they are looking at trying to get Swan, Thomas, Pendlebury, Scully, Rich, Murphy, Taylor, Bartel.
Would love to see them get all of them Razz

I know that some players they are linked with, they will get but here is where it starts, them getting linked with every out of contract player haha.

Yep, everyone who's contract expires this year will have the Giants cloud hanging over them.

Here we go again....

you may laugh now.

But im sure this time last year if an article saying GC were trying to sign Bock, Ablett, Rischa, Harbrow, Brown etc we would have scoffed aswell

Although realistically they will only sign one player from each club, if i went with anyone id say Dale Thomas, but id be baffled if any of there star players wanted to leave Collingwood

Yeah good point. I recall looking through some old threads a few weeks ago and I remember someone getting abused for thinking GC would get Ablett.

Yeah I know where you are coming from, but Pendlebury/Thomas/Swan, Murphy, Bartel/Taylor, Scully, Rich is more than you would expect them to get.

They will still get plenty of players, but what I mean by the thread is... They will be rumoured with nearly every out of contract players.

And now Thomas is number 1 on their list apparently. Alipate Carlile is also another target on theirs.

As TGBY said, GC had some pretty big names on their list and managed to get most of them. I'd say around this time last year the stories of Ablett, Rischa, Brown, Harbrow, Bock and Krakouer started to circulate and all of them ended up signing with GC, so it'll be interesting to see how accurate the rumours will be this time around.

Come back home Izzy, you saw how Khunt went with the cross country ballet, shit!
You have to play this game from as a kid to be any hope in it at this level, same would go if some AFL star came over to NRL and hardly ever played league before, he would go hopeless too.

That was Hunt's first game of football at AFL level, you can't expect him to shine straight away. He has shown signs that he can make it, he won't be a superstar, but he'll at least be a good solid player if he keeps at it.

Folau will improve with every game he plays, not at all surprised that he got 0 touches in his first game. Hunt was similar in his first game too.

Play it as a kid?

You see plenty of players coming from Basketball, Soccer, League etc backgrounds. It's a common thing in AFL.

Advertiser reported yesterday that Taylor Walker may have already agreed to terms with GWS.

Todd Goldstein for one.

I'm guessing you don't know much about AFL.
