PostSubject: Australia's 30 man squad for the WC   Fri Dec 17, 2010 8:00 am

Here it is:

Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Doug Bollinger, Dan Christian, Xavier Doherty, Callum Ferguson, Brad Haddin, Ryan Harris, John Hastings, Nathan Hauritz, Brad Hodge, James Hopes, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Andrew McDonald, Clint McKay, Steve O'Keefe, Tim Paine, James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Shaun Tait, Adam Voges, David Warner, Shane Watson, Cameron White

Pretty quality squad. All victorian fans will be pretty happy about the inclusion of Brad Hodge and James Pattinson. Happy that Binga is back and Tait. Geez imagine those two opening the bowling 150+km/h on show.

If they decide to cut the squad to 15, my picks are:

Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Dan Christian, Brad Haddin, Xavier Doherty, Brad Hodge, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Clint McKay, Shaun Tait, Shane Watson, Cameron White

and that will be my team for the first game (depending no injuries)
Shaun Marsh
Shane Watson
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Michael Hussey
Dan Christian
Brad Haddin
Mitchell Johnson
Xavier Doherty
Brett Lee
Shaun Tait/Clint McKay

Ugh.

Dude.

Hastings, Hodge, Dee Huss, McDonald, McKay, Pattinson, Siddle, White.

Those are all Victorians or playing in the Victorian state team at least.

I know but like Hodge hasn't played ODI for a long time and Pattinson is uncapped while the others have been in the team for the recent odi games.

It's going to be tough to cut it down to 15 atm.. Dickhead that posted this didn't even have Ryan Harris in his squad, what a nutter. Fergo was so good for us when he got his chance, would be really stiff to miss out imo but like i said it's going to be tough to make the 15. Paine would also have to be in the squad for cover yes?

1 - Ponting
2 - Clarke
3 - Watson
4 - Hussey
5 - White
6 - Haddin
7 - Johnson
8 - Harris
9 - Bollinger
10 - Doherty
11 - Smith
12 - Marsh
13 - Hastings/Cristain
14 - McKay
15 - Paine/Furgo/Hodge/Hussey

I can't see Hodge making the squad TBH... He could make another 3 hundreds this season and the selectors still won't pick him..

Seriously though, how far has Nathan Bracken fall off the grid... not saying he should be in the 15 but surely he's in the best 30 limited overs players in the nation (or am i missing something?)

Hodge wont get a game. No-one likes him. well at least no-one did, with so many fresh faces perhaps he gets a second chance but players like Ponting and Clarke and co. from a previous era do not like him at all.

How people are leaving Harris out of the 15 let alone 30 baffles me, he would almost be the first bowler i pick in my team.

Yeah out of his 15 man squad, agree with you though one of the first bowlers picked which is why i couldn't believe it when i saw it.

TBH I can't see Tait making the squad.. the guy only has raw pace, struggles to bowl more then 5 overs these days.

Many better options then him.

1. Shane Watson
2. Shaun Marsh
3. Ricky Ponting (c)
4. Michael Clarke
5. Cameron White
6. Mike Hussey
7. Brad Haddin
8. Mitch Johnson
9. Xavier Doherty
10. Ryan Harris
11. Doug Bollinger

12. Steve Smith
13. Clint McKay / Brett Lee
14. Dan Christian / John Hastings / James Hopes (the forgotten man?)
15. Callum Ferguson / Brad Hodge / Tim Paine

Really hard to cut the squad down to 15 players. I guess we will get a better idea of the selectors thinking later in the summer in the ODI's against England. Brett Lee has really impressed me in the Ryobi Cup this season to date and would have to be a 50/50 chance of making the squad. At this stage Clint McKay would still be in front of him imo. The other couple of spots could really go to any of those guys, just depends who is in form at the right time.

Agree, looks like Tait has left his run too late. Unfortunaley he just can't stay fit on a consistent basis.

Bad news for Australia. One of our best ODI bowlers in Clint McKay has been ruled out due to stress fractures in his foot which he injured after Victoria's first T20 match.

Big blow for us, we needed him because he could get wicket when we needed it and is economical with his changes of pace a deliveries.

With McKay out, time for another bowler to step up. My guess will be James Pattinson (if he performs tomorrow in the T20 at his home ground).
