All true...

Who was the batsman they're talking about in the first line?

Ponting. Someone was trying to justify his dismissals by saying he got out to good balls.

Just heard Bill Lawry say Smith has bowled well !!!!

Is he for real ??

Smith bowls to inconsistent, which makes him very hard to bowl as a captain

He bowls too short, then over compensates and bowls full tosses

He has bowled a good 3 or 4 balls short of a length in this spell

England rack up 400 and are 302 ahead with 5 wickets in hand...Ashes are starting to slip away from them (AUS)...

Prior gets his half century.

Smith is the new poster child for the national team so of course they'll garnish him with praise for doing nothing.

Prior to 50 off a Smith short one again. Smith then follows with a full toss !! Mad

Ponting is quite easy to get out early in the innings, I have said it for years. A bowler who can get it moving away from him, pitching outside off will pick him up every time. He tries to block everything straight back to the bowler, instead of changing the direction of his block for that particular ball. He squares himself up all the time

If Ponting's not sacked from captaincy after the Ashes I'll be the most surprised.

And he's a North Melbourne ticket holder (I think #1?) so I'm supposed to stand up for him.

Ponting is also Rabbitohs No.1 ticket holder too.

Australia playing 26 to 1 to win the ashes. It's all over.

Ponting couldn't give a shit about league though... you always see him talking about the kangaroos or playing with a AFL ball.
--

Pontings mistake was he went hard at the ball. While the ball he got was quite good, if he didn't play with such hard hands he wouldn't have gotten out.

Prior has improved from top edging pull shots over slips and edging through them - i'll give him that.

What an embarassment. England's bowlers were just terrific yesterday. They are just so consistent with their line and length, don't give away away any easy runs, it's what seperates the Aussie attack from the Pom attack in my opinion. Our bowlers bowl too many balls at bad lengths or balls sliding down leg.

Siddle you champion. I love how passionate he is about his cricket, I love watching him celebrate after wickets.

Fucking members, if they turned up yesterday the record would've been broken.

C'mon Aussie! confused

Agree

But who replaces him? Hussey would be ok, but he's not the best choice if we're looking towards the future. Haddin has had experience in domestic cricket, but he's 32 (i think) and keepers traditionally make decent vice captains.

I really don't know about Clarke. He's not in good form and should find form first of all. Not sure if he's got what it takes to lead the team, but I guess he's had a little experience in the shorter form of the game and has done alright.

White would be perfect, but imo it would be his captaincy alone that would get him into the test team, and you shouldn't just have a specialist 'captain'.

Ferguson, Paine, Hughes are some other names that might be candidates in a few more years

Top stuff Pete Siddle, a well deserved six-for!

C'mon Aussies, a couple of big centuries and some rain would be nice... we can dream. Razz

Bad news for Australia. Harris has a stress fracture in his ankle and will require surgery.

Er ... You serious, Svoer?

As if England getting to 0-150 at the end of the first day hadn't already done it?

Australia still had a chance of saving the game then.. I don't see them doing that now.

I didn't see them salvaging it then.

I couldn't give them that much credit.
