Oh yes ladies and gents, AFLMG is back. (Well with your help, it can be)

http://www.tfwforum.com/t3215-tfw-afl-manager-game - For Game Rules etc.

However, we're going under different style. Myself and Stoke (Queens Park for the dimwits who don't know Razz )

We'll be holding a eight-ten team drafting style competition with the entire AFL league involved. GWS Players will not be able to be selected till end of this year however in our second draft. Even more details will be released when completely finalised.

Interest:

2. Queens Park

7. Panthers

I was going to do this at the end of the year but stick to the original concept - Pick a team, first come first served.

Never said I wouldn't play, but isn't this like the third time you've tried to resurrect this game?

I'd play if it was active, but I can't see that happening.

Was more stokey's idea. i went along with it. It's trying to resurrect parts of the forum

None of this "I'd play if it was active crap" that is why this forum has been on the decline.

Yeah poor attitude. Take the lead. If we get 10 people wanting to play, s'all good.

Cynic - don't you reckon drafting a team would be good? open to change but notsure really.

Depends on the interest. You'd need to draft something like 35 players at least per team. That'd take 6 months on its own.

Not really. Or we could do something extremely different, and make the teams quite even.

Have the top 8 (or 10 pending on teams we get) scoring players in a randomiser, and we give them to random teams. 40 times in order of scoring meaning 320 players drafted randomly or 400 players. And the rest of the players go into the free agency after the end of year draft. GWS' list and the other draftees will be in this National Draft which would go a total of 8 rounds, the non-randomised players may be selected also. The draft order will be randomised and reversed each round to ensure fairness. Rookie lists will again be in place as will LTI's. Now. Realism will be needed, so Key Positions will be introduced for the first time. If you have a player out of position completely. Eg. playing Daniel Motlop in the Back Pocket, they will receive a quarter of their total points*.

But yes, we're back baby. We are fucking back! /end hangover quote

*to be confirmed totally.

Regarding position what I deem is a good system is this.

Players can play in their SC positions for that year. (e.g. Mid fwd could play wing, centre, ruck rover, rover, forward flank, pocket)

Key positioning is decided by the AFL prospectus - done by the same guys as supercoach. If they deem somebody to be 'Tall - Key' then they're eligible for key positions.

re: drafting. What about we (being the admins) delist 6 players from each afl list - who we deem as the 6 best, then they go into a draft (probably 102 players) and the 10 or so coaches get to draft 10 of them. The rest of their list is a stock standard list, e.g. calling north, or crows or some hacks. Gives a bit of uniqueness and flair, but also not a long ass draft.

-drafting: the long ass draft problem is the annoying bit. any draft can take a while and make people disinterested. where as the randomising idea would make it quick, and interesting as to which teams get who. Would be an awesome competition to have. OR. we could draft team by team using a randomiser. Either way, this game needs a unique idea to kick start, and personally the randomising would be an interesting way, plus unwanted players.

Hence why I'm making a proposal of a 100 pick draft! it'd take MAX a month, would be good.

There are two ways of drafting:

1. People pick whoever they want for whatever position they want
2. We go by positions, e.g. Forwards, then Defenders, then Rucks, then Midfielders. But there'd have to be consensus on players like Pavlich, Higgins, Chris Tarrant ...

That's why the idea of team by team randomised draft could work. Different positions, however I would put a squad limit of about 45-50 after the selections, with rookie selections allowed to be at most six rookies of players who are yet to debut. eg. John Butcher could be rookie listed.

Free Agency would be intact. Would be incredibly interesting.

40 would do. I'd be scared if you couldn't get 26 players every week out of that.
