COLL goalkickers - Dawes 2, Krakouer, Pendlebury, Beams, Wood, Blair, Fasolo

INJURY CONCERNS

Collingwood - Ruckman Darren Jolly has torn an adductor muscle and is very unlikely to play. All Australian defender Ben Reid also has a groin injury and struggled against the Hawks, should play though.
Geelong - Only concern is mercurial forward Steve Johnson with his dislocated knee, from all reports it isnt too bad and is rated a very good chance to play.

POSSIBLE LINEUPS

COLLINGWOOD

B - 5 Nick Maxwell (c) - 2 Chris Tarrant - 8 Harry O'Brien
HB - 1 Leon Davis - 20 Ben Reid - 39 Heath Shaw
W - 13 Dale Thomas - 12 Luke Ball - 21 Sharrod Wellingham
HF - 22 Steele Sidebottom - 32 Travis Cloke - 4 Alan Didak
F - 11 Jarryd Blair - 31 Chris Dawes - 7 Andrew Krakouer
R - 19 Cameron Wood - 10 Scott Pendlebury - 36 Dane Swan
I - 15 Leigh Brown - 26 Ben Johnson - 34 Alan Toovey - 17 Dayne Beams

GEELONG

B - 44 Corey Enright - 13 Tom Lonergan - 30 Matthew Scarlett
HB - 8 Josh Hunt - 7 Harry Taylor - 9 James Kelly
W - 11 Joel Corey - 14 Joel Selwood - 4 Andrew Mackie
HF - 28 Allen Christensen - 26 Tom Hawkins - 5 Travis Varcoe
F - 35 Paul Chapman - 31 James Podsiadly - 27 Matthew Stokes
R - 6 Brad Ottens - 3 Jimmy Bartel - 45 Cameron Ling (c)
I - 12 Trent West - 20 Steve Johnson - 22 Mitch Duncan - 40 David Wojcinski

X-FACTOR

COLLINGWOOD - A poor season by his standards doesnt mean that Geelong will leave Alan Didak alone, a proven big game performer. Has he saved his best for the biggest game of the year?
GEELONG - First year player Allen Christensen has taken the cats by storm with his pace and dash. Capable of kicking multiple goals very quickly.

KEY MATCHUPS

32 Travis Cloke (COLL) vs 7 Harry Taylor (GEE)
Could be the most important matchup for the game. Cloke has been a marking machine this year, Taylor is one of the best spoilers and one of the best defensive marking players. Both have pace and can run all day. Cloke may have upper hand in strength but sure to be a huge contest.

19 Cameron Wood/15 Leigh Brown (COLL) vs 6 Brad Ottens/12 Trent West (GEE)
The ruck dual is critical to give their midfield first use of the ball. In round 24 Ottens and West dominated Jolly and Brown. With Jolly out, Cam Wood has huge responsibilty. Geelong have huge upperhand in this.

PREDICTION

Take not much notice of the round 24 game, Geelong though dominated and take huge confidence from that. With the ruck dual in Cats hand I think that they will win their 3rd flag in 5 years by 16 points.
Norm Smith Medal - Jimmy Bartel (GEE)

We are Geelong Very Happy massively behind the Cats next week, as I want to fucking shut up them scum fans.

I agree about the ruck bout, if Jolly is out then Geelong should dominate the ruck. Leigh Brown was absolutely terrible Friday Night.

Tipping Geelong by 30 points tbh.

Cmon you Cats! I wouldn't be able to stand seeing the Pies winning again. I reckon this will be decided by less than 10 points.

Interesting to see what happens with the selections... Steve Johnson, Ben Reid and Darren Jolly all under a fitness cloud so they might pull off a Presti and declare themselves unfit to play.

I think Jolly is no chance
Reid will definitely play
Johnson is 70/30 to play

Grand Final Day, its like Easter, your birthday and Christmas all wrapped into one

For the winner, eternal greatness. For the loser, 6 months of reflection and heartache.
In many grand finals there are pivitol moments, of courege or greatness, of brillance or pressure. Its who stands up when its your time to go and get the pill, to put your body on the line when its needed.

When you the word courage is used you think of modern day heroes like Jonathan Brown, Joel Selwood and Beau Waters
But think back to 1989, Hawthorn vs Geelong and the biggest name in football Dermie Brereton is flawed at the centre bounce by Mark Yeates.
With broken ribs and vomiting as he refuses to leave the field, Dermie goes to the forward pocket to take a towering mark and kick an insperational goal.

The hit is right at the start, the goal is at 1:32

That is what inspires teams to get that extra yard.

There will be a moment on Saturdays game when its time to take a deep breath and under pressure slot a kick that is possibly the most important of your career. To go back and put it between the big sticks.
Who can forget last years grand final when StKildas Lenny Hayes marked on 50 in the last quarter and went back to kick a clutch goal to put the Saints right back in it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SzKbGrXpSw

An act of desperation can inspire, whether it saves a goal or creates a goal. These are the unsung acts that can decide grand finals.
Think of Heath Shaws smother in 2010, Daniel Chick smother and shepheard in 2006 or Wayne Harmes in 1979. These are things that inspried teams on to great things and these acts are never forgotton

Or will it be that touch of brillance that wins it for you, A jesalenko spekkie, a Goddard spekie, an Akermanis snap, a Scarlett toe poke, a Cyril tackle or a Stewy Dew 6 minute burst.

Grand Finals is where you can make yourself a hero forever, if you dont believe me just ask Leo Barry

Grand Final day is something completly different to the 25 previous weeks.
I know Im ready
Let the best team win

I kinda feel sorry for Cam Mooney. He played a big part in Geelong's past GF's and to miss out like that is tough for him to since he is retiring.

It's very much a see-sawing match, and at half time, Collingwood are leading by 3 points, 57-54. Collingwood will be happy that half-time came when it did, because Geelong were on a roll with a few quick goals and it should be a great second half.
Scot Pendleberry was subbed out for Geelong, due to a dislocated shoulder, and Mitch Duncan has replaced him.

Tom Hawkins scores a brilliant goal for Geelong, just getting his foot to the ball, and it's Geelong 60 Collingwood 58.

Just not up to it anymore simple, can't play a bloke just because he's retiring.

Very good game
All credit goes to the cats
Grand Finals can make or break a player, I think we may have seen the making of Tom Hawkins today

The game was a great contest for the first three quarters, but Geelong just ran away with it in the last quarter and with 7 or 8 minutes to go, it was all over.

My Moment of the Grand Final

3rd quarter, game in the balance. A long clearing kick from Josh Hunt comes out of the Geelong back line, onto the Southern stand wing. A 2 on 1 contest favouring Collingwood.
Allen Christensen marks over the top of Heath Shaw with Alan Toovey also right there. He takes off to get the ball dowfield which ends up to a Tom Hawkins goal. An uplifting moment and the cats never looked back.
