Newcastle Jets v Melbourne Heart
Saturday, October 8 @ 4:30pm local

Melbourne Victory v Sydney FC
Saturday, October 8 @ 6:30pm local

Brisbane Roar v Central Coast Mariners
Saturday, October 8 @ 7:45pm local

Gold Coast United v Wellington Phoenix
Sunday, October 9 @ 4:00pm local

Perth Glory v Adelaide United
Sunday, October 9 @ 4:30pm local

Will this season live up to the hype? Which big name signing will deliver on the big stage? Can the Roar produce the goods yet again and claim back-to-back titles? Who will be the big improvers and droppers?

The wait is almost over!! Also good on Holger for not selecting Kewell/Emerton for Socceroos duty - class act from the great man.

Ready for us to take the spotlight away from victory
Hoping Fred has a great year
Our preseason has been very good and we have been away from spotlight which suits us

What i have gathered Tinks cbf keeping Culina jr as part of the squad as he won't be playing this year (and who knows if he'll be able to again), Culina snr has had words Tinks gets pissed off and that's all there is to it.

I'm hearing Ernie Merrick to the Jets and Messi to follow soon after.

I understand is that both Culinas withheld the info that Jasons knee is really no good at all
They just said it was out for this year, and didnt say the possibility of never playing again
So the board found that unacceptable

Played reasonably well tonight Victory. Thought that Rojas, Kewell and Covic were the best for them. Kewell did some very good things but also made some sloppy mistakes but as did the rest of the team. Kewell definitely got the better of Emerton who was actually very quiet and when he did get involved he missed the penalty. Good game of football though to start the season off, the crowd sounded electric. The Heat - Jets game was good too, thought that both teams deserved a point but it didn't end that way. Defence for both sides was fairly average.

Brilliant finish for the Jets. I think we were lucky to win it in the end because melbourne had a good chance to win it. I can't remember who did it but one of the players had 2 players to his right who were both unmarked and he just kicked it himself and missed lol.

Bloody frustrating game against Sydney. We had so many chances to score. But as did Sydney, Emerton's penelty Laughing Super save by Covic, he was bloody terrific. Rojas is a bloody gun, he was incredible last night. Harry played pretty well too.

Great crowd as well! 40,000! Was a great atmosphere.

We dominated CC, should have been atleast 2 or 3 but Matty Ryan is a freak. He'll be overseas in no time at all. Really happy with Issey and Jurman, still not sold on Berisha but i'll give him time. Nichols was awesome and i thought Broich really came into his own in that 2nd half. Still look class and injury free i'm sure we are the team to beat.

James Brown just scored a stunner for GC to give them a 1-1 draw.

Really great round so far with a game to go, great to have the A-League back.

Really disappointed not to get a point yesterday

Fred is quality and real happy with Dugandzic and Williams on club debut
Cant wait to have Clint Bolton back, the bloke in goals yesterday was very ordinary especially his kicking
A home game against Glory next week, should win game

weird that people say the 40,000 was a great atmosphere, up on level 3 it seemed dead silent, the only time there was any noise was when Kewell got the ball, and that just annoyed the hell out of me...so many uninformed morons!

can't wait to be back at AAMI

the team was average, rojas has his good moments

the round has set the season up well!

Fantastic start to the new season.

Newcastle/Heart game was quite entertaining, thought the Heart really deserved something out of it. Defensively the Heart already look shaky, they really should try and accommodate Colosimo back into the centre of their defence.

Probably one of the better 0-0 draws in the A-League last night between the Victory and Sydney. Kewell seemed to have a shitload of shots... on a few occasions he probably had better options around him, overall a solid performance from him. Emerton just couldn't get enough good ball on the right flank in attacking positions, Sydney seemed to play a rather deep defensive line which made it tough for him. Was really impressed with Rojas, the standout player on the pitch IMO (along with the two keepers who were brilliant)... the Kiwis sure do have a future star.

Brisbane just continuing on from where they left off last season... it really is amazing Football to watch. Nichols had a blinder and easily could have scored a couple of goals, definitely has the potential to take his game to another level this season. Issey already looks a class act, Jurman was pretty solid at the back. Ryan was once again immense for CCM, could have easily been four or five goals to the good for Brissy last night.

Didn't see much of the GCU/Wellington game but what a cracking goal from James Brown.

Disappointing performance from Adelaide earlier tonight, looked quite flat. In saying that Perth did look pretty impressive and with the squad they've assembled, they should definitely be challenging this season.

Agree with above comments, the standard we've seen this round has set the season up nicely.

Great first round to get the season started, thought that the standard has been alot better than last year already. The Victory v Sydney game was my favourite, would have been good if their was a winner preferably Melbourne but nonetheless it was a top game. Nix had heart in their game last night, Paston was back to his best with some great saves. All the keepers this weekend have been class. Adelaide were terrible last night and Perth deserved to get the points in that game. It's so good to have the A-League back on the television!

Pantelis already out for the season. Now Ifill, Sanchez, Lia and Paston all injured as well Rolling Eyes Thankfully we have great depth to call on..... New players can't come in soon enough. Especially a striker, Greeny isn't going to be able to put in a shift like that everyweek. Massive thank you to Manny for choosing to bypass playing for Malta to play for us, was probably our best player.

Should be another good weekend of football, very excited for tonights match will be good to see Carlos back in the side. Hopefully he can put some good balls through to Kewell. Archie should play too which is good news. Looking forward to the Roar, Sydney match too. Hoping that Sydney can end Roars run of victory's. Hoping that this weekend can back up from last weeks good start to the competition. Tipping Victory, Heart, Phoenix, Draw in Sydney Roar match, and CCM. Bring on some more good football this weekend.
