With teams beginning to train again post any news in here... players who are impressing etc.

Brisbane are holding a week long camp in Noosa, Browny and Rich in good shape from all reports. Some young bloke Newell almost broke Shaun Hart's 3km time trial record and McKeevar finsihed in second.

Well Carlton have been based in Qatar for quite a few weeks. I've been watching the videos being posted on the Carlton website and it seems the boys are being smashed. 38 degrees most days and they've been getting up at about 6am.

Hawks are doing the Kokoda track again, Pre Season starts 21st (i think) and Roughy should be running again in 2 weeks so all is good so far.

Don't think we're going overseas or anything for preseason. Boyd and Cross broke the record for our HIR test and then Cross came first in the 3.2k time trial with Boyd coming second, Djerrkura was in the top 5 which is pleasing. Vez has also slimmed down a bit by the looks of things which is good to see.

amazed you guys got wingard in the end, i think he looks a class above Hoskin-Elliott and Tyson, but that's just me

happy with Ellis and Elton, don't know much about Arnot...

and really happy for Orren Stephenson, such a dominant ruckman at vfl level

Port Adelaide heading over the Tasman to Middle Earth in early December.

All teams should really head down to Geelong with 3 flags in 5 years. Might be something in the water.

Happy to see Sumner go to GWS and good to see Paine and Woodward picked up as well. Haven't heard too much of the blokes we picked up, hopefully they do well.

We have gone very risky in the draft
All 3 picks are risks I think
Bootsma probly the most solid pick

Happy with how we went.

Clay Smith with our first pick, pretty much a Ward replacement. Tough midfielder, loves to tackle and kicks goals. Rumours about our recruiters being keen on Crozier but McCartney was dead set on getting a tough midfielder, seems to be true considering McCartney got what he wanted and Crozier was still available at our pick.

Michael Talia was someone that was heavily linked with the club leading up to the draft and he managed to fall to pick 39 which the club is stoked with apparently. Key defender but wouldn't be surprised if he was used in a Dale Morris-like role at times. Kicking is meant to be questionable though.

Don't know a whole lot about Daniel Pearce, more of an athletic outside midfielder with a basketball background and can play forward, back and on the wing. He's meant to have a good kick on him too which is more than welcomed as we've been screaming out for some more outside midfielders. Being only ~180cm, his basketball background could be very useful.

Tory Dickson is a mature recruit, think he's 24. Kicked 100+ goals playing amateur footy in 2010 before playing VFL this year and kicked 40-50 goals. I thought he was a KPF, but turns out he's only around the 182-184cm mark so he's in the Brad Johnson mould. The club has said with a good preseason they wouldn't be surprised if he jumped right into the team round 1. A smart pick considering how weak and young our forward line will be next year.
