http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/6329122/Meyer-named-South-Africa-coach

finally Boks name their new coach. hope he's better than PdV and gives the AB's some much needed combativeness. missed the boks as force to be reckoned with and hope they step up and play better rugby than they have for 3 of the past 4 years

and a another super franchise to be added 2013 from SA

http://www.keo.co.za/2012/01/27/kings-to-play-super-rugby-in-2013/

ok i understand that SA is going through "transformation" but why will the rest of us have to put up with inferior rugby due to internal bickering between SA rugby powers? this seems to be a power play within SA spilling over into super rugby

Meyer's a solid coach and should've been there in the first place - of course he'll have to groom some young boks but they look solid still...

PdV is surprisingly more popular in SA than i would've thought. meyer should've been the coach 4 years ago but alot of saffa's arent blaming PdV solely for the boks poor performance over the last tenure.
alot are blaming jonSmit and the senior players.
i have to agree that PdV was hampered in his coaching attempts by matfield and FdP taking over and running it their way. of course their way meant kicking and chasing. worked really well in 2009 but came unstuck when the AB's started fielding a back 3 that could defuse any bomb kicked their way.
smit being a senior member got to pick himself as starter. hadnt they heard of conflict of interest? of all the seniors smit is seen as a big villain not opting to let the arguably better bismark to have more game time. again, conflict of interest anyone?

Certainly - but PdV was the one who let them get into that place in the first place...

Yeah PdV had no control of the boks team. between him and the player power BS its a wonder they won anything
in PdV's defence he tried introducing expansive rugby but was then over ruled by matfield and FdP in 2008 and they went back to old fashion kick and bash tactics.
Boks supporters should be glad they lost @ the WC else the farce would've continued with PdV still at the helm

Was talking to a Saffa yesterday who said that if they hadn't made Meyer the Coach he would've switched completely to the ABs.
