PENRITH'S NSW State of Origin hopeful
Michael Jennings and hooker Masada Iosefa are being investigated over
an alleged alcohol fuelled brawl last night.

It is alleged that police had to use
capsicum spray on one of the players after they were called to the Mean
Fiddler Hotel on Windsor Road at Rouse Hill.

It is understood Jennings and Iosefa were taken to Castle Hill Police Station and were being questioned. Isoefa has been charged, police said.

Well this isn't good news for our star centre and our hooker.

Not good news at all, the last thing our club needed. The Panthers are expected to release a statement around midday, so we will know more about this then. Hopefully this doesn't wreck the chances Jennings has of playing rep footy this season.

Panthers CEO, Michael Leary has released the following statement:

“Around 11pm last night 2 Panthers players were present where an incident took place at licensed premises at Rouse Hill.

I have spoken to both players this morning in relation to last nights incident and both have been extremely cooperative and are available and willing to assist Police with their enquiries.

The player, Masada Iosefa has subsequently been charged with affray and failing to quit licensed premises. Masada will be defending the charges.

The other player Michael Jennings was present at the incident and was not taken into Police custody as previously reported and left the premises. Jennings is committed to assisting Police with their enquiries if required to do so.

The club is treating the matter very seriously and is continuing enquiries. We respect the matter is now in the hands of the Police and are unable to make any further comments.

Regarding further action from the club we are not in a position at this stage to determine disciplinary action against Masada Iosefa – that will be determined at an appropriate time."

Not good to hear, both of these players are great young talents.

I just heard off another site , That jennings is not guilty. As he was at the incident not IN the incident. And tried creating peace at the bar.

Wonder if this will impact on his Origin aspirations in 2009?

If his Guilty-Free Probably not.
But Origin selectors are still waiting for him to sign down as an Australian.

Party's over, warns Gallop


NRL boss David Gallop has hit out at clubs giving players the
weekend off to go partying after Friday night matches following the
arrest of Penrith hooker Masada Iosefa, and will raise the issue at
the next meeting of club chief executives.

While Iosefa has indicated he will defend himself against
charges of affray, resisting arrest and failing to quit a licensed
premises arising after he was subdued by capsicum spray outside a
notorious western Sydney hotel about 11pm on Saturday, Gallop is
angered that little is being done by clubs to stop the trend of
players with free time on weekends getting into trouble.
