Should Andrew Symonds be selected for the Ashes?

I reckon he should be selected, but I dont think he should be in the XI. He should be selected just as back up to North and/or McDonald for the Tests, but I reckon should be used in the tour matches and ODIs.

If Symonds goes over to England we should defiently play him.

Are you kidding me? North is so much better than Symonds IMO, McDonald is questionable but Symonds should go as well.

Symonds is one of the best fielders in the world, Symonds is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world. Symonds is a very good bowler as well

No, he doesnt deserve selection, give it to someone whos actually worked hard for his spot, and you know is commited, (North)

If he does get selected in the squad then of course he will play. No point picking him if he isn't going to play.

He is better than North, because he is more useful with the ball and can be more destructive with the bat.

And McDonald.... well the less said about him the better.

I agree with the Hopes statement, but since he isn't considered by the selectors as a test player (ala Nathan Bracken), it's hard to see him get a job. But it will be great to see Symonds return to the form he had before the Drinking and fishing.

It's not just on fielding mate, North is so much better all round. Way better batter, on par with bowling and not a bad fielder.

yes north can bat but why risk him in the ashes if we dont know his odi form e for expriance first

North on par with Symonds bowling.... he's not even close

Symonds is a far better bowler, their is no way North is as good.

In terms of batting, North is technically better, but Symonds is a proven run getter at test level and he is the type of player that can turn a game in Australia's favour.
