Maybe you just have to find youe CD drive program and install it again, then it might work.

Re-Install one like Tonks said IMO.

OK Caity.

Find your 'My Computer' Icon on your desktop (or start menu), right-click on it and choose 'manage'
In the resulting window, go to System Tools -> Device Manager
In the section on the right, do you see any devices (especially ones called "disk drive", "optical drive" or anything like that) with a red X or a yellow ! mark? If not - right-click on the top-most icon in the list on the right, and click on "Scan for Hardware Changes" - it should pick up the device again. If it still doesn't then it might need to be disconnected and reconnected, or it might be there and no worries - look under "DVD/CD-ROM Drives"
Once you have an icon for the drive there, right click on it and choose "Update Driver" - choose the options to let Windows Update do the work and see if that does it. If not, then you'll need to get the make/model details for your computer and find the disk drive drivers on the net - if it's HP/Compaq - easy peasy. IBM/Lenovo - pretty easy. Toshiba - you're f$#ked (not really, but they're a b!tch to find drivers for).

Let me know how this goes - will try to help further Smile

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.""

Oh dear - you'll need to reinstall the drivers manually.

What's the make and model of your computer? If you're not sure, go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information.

It's under "Hardware information".

Try either of these:
Click Uninstall, and then click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver.

Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then select Last Known Good Configuration. This rolls back to the most recent successful registry configuration.

Because your system isn't unusable I don't think the "Last known good configuration" will work. Uninstalling the device, redetecting and (hopefully) reinstalling may work - give that a shot first.

If not - you need the Make and Model of the machine.

32bit vs 64bit is the encryption level. 64bit is used for bigger, fancier machines that need to do bigger, fancier things (to oversimpify it just a little bit Smile)

My advice is to just stick with 32bit stuff - that's the "norm" for PCs.

Didn't want to start a new thread..

Can anyone tell me how to fix popups and shit.. Also my sound always plays up i have to double click on the sound icon down the bottom and scroll up in the column "Wave" whatever the hell that is.. Also keep getting random shit like just before when i turned it on i heard my headphones going off so i put them on and it was an ad for Omo stain removal, very random and i have no idea how it started playing. Basically my laptop is farked.
